Don't overlook the fuel injection trigger points in the distributor when doing tune-ups on your Mercedes. These points control the fuel injection timing. Approximately every 50,000 miles the trigger points should be cleaned. Oil vapors seeping up through the seals in the distributor shaft will eventually contaminate these points causing rough idle, missing, and rough engine operation. If cleaning doesn't improve performance, or the points are too worn, they need to be replaced. A worn set of points can cause a host of problems.
