Mercedes® Neutral Safety Switch, 1981-1996

If you have difficulties starting your Mercedes at time, and find yourself having to move the shifter to neutral to get started when this happens, there may be a problem with the neutral safety switch. If you notice your reverse lights aren't operating all the time, this may also be a neutral safety switch problem. These problems can also be caused by worm shifter bushings. Check the shifter bushings before condemning the neutral switch since most of the time, the bushings are the guilty party.
