Mercedes® Gear Shift Bushing, 1968-1996

If you have difficulties starting your Mercedes at times, and find yourself having to move the shifter to neutral to get started when this happens, there may be problems with the shifter bushings or the neutral safety switch. Check the shifter bushings before condemning the neutral switch since most of the time, the bushings are the guilty party. If you notice your reverse lights aren't operating all the time, this is indicative of a neutral safety switch problem.
